Swim: A calm, breakwater-sheltered swim at Alamitos Beach with the Marine Stadium as your backdrop. Course maps are subject to change. Final routes will be confirmed closer to race day.

1.5 Kilometers at Alamitos Beach.

The Olympic swim is the real test. One and a half kilometers at Alamitos Beach. Breakwater-sheltered water, but real distance. This is where your open water training pays off.

Two loops with beach entry. Lifeguard support throughout. Clear sightlines. Calm conditions. By the time you exit the water, you’ll have proven your endurance to yourself.

RACE LONG BEACH

Forty Kilometers of Championship Racing.

Forty kilometers on flat, closed roads through downtown Long Beach. Ocean Boulevard. Shoreline Drive. Past the Aquarium of the Pacific. The bike course is where the race is decided.

The run is where Olympic distance reveals who trained and who just showed up. Ten kilometers of honest running. Aid stations. Spectator support. The finish line growing closer with every stride.

FAQs

Alamitos Beach water temperature in July is typically in the low 60s to 70s°F. Water temperature will be measured the morning of the race and communicated to all athletes.

Wetsuits are recommended for comfort at typical Long Beach water temperatures. Under USAT rules, wetsuits are permitted and will not affect awards eligibility at these temperatures.

All athletes must be off the bike course by 10:15 AM. Overall course cutoff times will be confirmed closer to race day. Check official race communications for the latest information.

Our water safety team includes fully qualified lifeguards and kayak support on course. If you experience difficulty, lie on your back and raise your arm. A kayak will come to you. The swim takes place in the breakwater-sheltered waters of Alamitos Beach.

Yes. A test swim session is available on Saturday before race day. Check official race communications for exact timing and location.
